Tillandsia pseudobaileyi is a unique, medium-sized air plant with stiff, twisting leaves that grow erratically from a bulbous base. These types of plants can survive without the need for soil by absorbing nutrients necessary for growth through the air, hence where the name air plant comes from. When it reaches maturity and is given proper light and water, this plant can bloom beautiful purple flowers in the growing season.
Place your Tillandsia pseudobaileyi where it can receive bright, indirect light and get plenty of air circulation. Direct sunlight will scorch its delicate leaves. Keep in mind that in their natural environment, air plants rely on moisture from the air and occasional rainfall to keep itself alive. To mimic this, give your Tillandsia several mistings throughout the week with bi-monthly soaks to keep it at its healthiest. Do this by submerging the entire air plant for about 15 minutes in a bowl of room temperature water. Once done, shake off any excess water that may have gotten trapped in some of the leaf crevices and wait until it's completely dry before returning it to its holder. If you live in an arid climate, or if the air in your house isn't very humid, you may have to soak your air plant once a week for best results.
